I'm going to suggest that we need to set radically big goals some goals that are pretty far out there that would really stretch us to achieve that goal because here's the key.

Our brain can't work on figuring out how to achieve a goal unless we put it into our brain. Goals not stated and written down are dreams that don't get accomplished.

Have a listen for my thoughts on setting and achieving goals.

When I first read about Angela Hanscom and her Timbernook camps I thought here is an OT after my own heart.  She really thinks out of the box and has been super creative with her private practice.  She has developed a business that is not the typical private practice business model.

Then I learned that she helps other therapists do the same thing and she now has a growing business.  At that point I reached out to her to see if she would join me in a podcast.

She licenses her outdoor camp to other therapists and professionals so that they can run one in their own geographical area, wherever that may be. She provides a turn key, start to finish package that others can use.

Here is what you will learn:
  • How she started
  • She didn't start with a business in mind - rather service to others
  • How she sets up a camp
  • How she scaled her idea to a business
  • The therapy philosophy of Timbernook camps
  • Why Timbernook camps sell out so fast
  • Where Timbernook camps can be hosted - No you don't need to own 20 acres of land
  • What  her Timbernook core business team looks like
  •  How she put her family first and worked her business around that priority

Thanks for listening,
Scott Harmon

"Average people see money through the eyes of emotion. Rich people think about money logically."

This is a quote from an article at Yahoo Finance.

James Lomuscio

I "met" James on Twitter using the #bizpt hashtag. I checked out his website and was intrigued by his tools for private practice therapists there. I thought you might be interested too so I invited James to visit with me about what his service offers.

Hability.net is a patient relationship management solution for therapists designed to help you
strengthen your relationship with patients. In this episode, James shares with us how this tool can help your private practice reduce no shows using text messages and emails which are automated and configurable.

Hability gives you the power to create one or more communication plans for your patients, and Hability automatically follows-up with each patient during and after their course of care. Each message is completely configurable, ensuring scheduled messages reflect your voice and your clinic's brand.

Hability is not just for PT's.  Any private practice therapist would benefit from this service.

Aaron LeBauer joins me to discuss cash based therapy. He and his wife own and operate a cash only PT practice.

Aaron started a massage therapy business in 1999.  He decided he needed more knowledge and expertise on the body and how it worked so he went to PT school.  As a student, he figured out quickly that he did not want to work in the corporate world of PT because he wanted to give more individualized care to his patients.

Besides running his own cash based practice, Aaron now helps other therapists learn how to start a cash only practice too.

I love Aaron's attitude of simplicity both in life and in private practice.  It's definitely an attitude that builds success.
